MOVING ON AND GROWING

Juniors and Inters may develop their skills from the Prep Team  or join as complete newbies. Children experience fun drama games, get their bodies moving to exciting dance routines and learn a really broad range of songs from musicals. These young performers are developing all the time, so we try and choose material that we know they will enjoy.

Juniors are carefully encouraged and nurtured as fledgling performers, whilst Inters are pushed a little harder and given more opportunities to perform.

We aim to give our Juniors and Inters the opportunity to perform in two mini-showcases at our theatre each year. This gives them plenty of time to master songs and routines and gives parents the chance to see what their children have been up to.

Songs and dances are challenging, but achievable.  As Delivery Partners of the Derbyshire Music Education Hub , we work very hard to keep our teaching standards high and continually evaluate our practice and methods.

CLASS INFO

My daughter has been at the Studios from being a toddler in Movers and Shakers. She really enjoys all the performances and has made lots of friends. The teachers are superb and really know their stuff. I can definitely recommend the classes at Chesterfield Studios.

Preps work on a songs that are appropriate to their age and ability. Young voices have a limited range, so much of the material is drawn from well-known songs. Week by week, words and melodies are taught bit by bit without the need to be able to read. Tutors are supported by assistants who make sure each child's wellbeing is looked after. We know that joining a new group is daunting, but we take every care to ensure that new children settle in quickly and make lots of new friends. There's also a lot of fun time, playing games listening to stories dancing to fun music and generally letting off steam.

"We really enjoy working together on a Wednesday. Between us we make sure that all the sessions are well-planned but with plenty of room for fun and laughter. The Studios is a unique setting and we love to be part of it. The children are such joy and we are always so proud of their dedication - it's always clear how much they love performing and taking part in the sessions. If you'd like to give the Junior or Inter sessions a try, we think you'd really enjoy it. There's so much to do and if you like singing, dancing, acting and having a lot of fun, we'd really love to welcome you to our sessions."
