Keep on singing (but from home)
So many of us are now employing social distancing measures and are unable to meet up with our friends, let alone enjoy coming to the Studios to participate in our usual classes and groups.
So with that in mind, we've put together a virtual choir which means you can still make music with your friends, even though you're being kept apart.
Sing along from home and record the unofficial Studios anthem, You Raise Me Up.
Here's how it works
You stay at home and record yourself singing along to a guide track, when you've finished your recording, you send it to us and we mix it together into a virtual choir.
Please don't be embarrassed! When everything is mixed together the idea is we should sound like a choir. You might go through hell recording it and having to listen to yourself, but just have a go. The aim of the game is to have a bit of fun while we're all kept away from each other.
The video tells you exactly what you need to do to join in, but in a nutshell you will need:
Some way of recording yourself. Either a webcam, video camera or mobile phone. This should record both audio and visual.
A pair of headphones.
Some means to playback the guide track.
So if you were recording on your phone, you would plug your headphones into your laptop to hear the guide track, whilst having your phone in front of you recording.
You might find it useful to have one earpiece on and one off so you can hear yourself and your track.
Your final recording won't be perfect, but please don't let that put you off. Just send it in and trust to technological witchcraft to sort it out.
Links to pdfs and rehearsal videos are available below. Don't worry if you can't pick everything up, if in doubt, you can just sing the tune. Have a listen to the guide tracks you can get a feel for how it goes.
Just press record and have some fun!
Instrumentalists Can Join In Too!
There are links below to all the parts, so please join in.
You can choose which video you would like to record with. The first video uses a concert performance of You Raise Me Up, the second is just a piano guide track.
